2024 Asaka Lab Training Camp Report

Hello everyone!

This is Tsuka-san from Asaka Laboratory!

This time I would like to report on the training camp we went to in September!

Schedule : Tuesday, 9/10/2024 ~ Thursday, 9/12/2025

Accommodation : Hotel Famitic Myojin

tourist spot : Nikko Toshogu Shrine

This time we went to Nikko for 3 days!

In Nikko, we were able to enjoy the fresh natural air and experience a side of history that is rarely seen!

I'll reporting on it one day at a time!

Day 1

First, some of us took the train from our homes, while others traveled in our teacher's car.

I went to the accommodation in my teacher's car.

On the way, we stopped at Hanyu PA on the Tohoku Expressway and had lunch.

By the way, I had trouble choosing a restaurant and it took me about 10 minutes...

After a lot of consideration, I decided to go to a ramen shop called Goma Karaya and try their stir-fried vegetable set meal!

stir-fried vegetable set meal 1,150 yen

From the crispness of the vegetables to the fluffy texture of the rice, it was a wonderful meal that was beyond reproach!!

This time we are staying at a
place called "Hotel Famitic
Myojin" !

It is located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture,
and is apparently used by other universities for research laboratiries and club training camps!

On the first day, we had a seminar where the professor talked about case studies and job hunting, after which the network engineer, software engineer, and public relations engineer each gave a progress report.

Each student listened to the talk while thinking about their own future prospects.
The expectations are high!!

After the seminar, we played table tennis in our room!🏓
We spent a lot of time playing table tennis during this training camp!!
The seminar used your brain and the exercise used your body, so it was a good workout, wasn't it?

The first night we had a BBQ!🍖
I was impressed by the fact that everyone was grilling meat, sharing things, and everyone was thinking about what they could do to help!
I think this is a great place for members who have not been involved before to interact with each other!

On the first night, we all gathered in our rooms for a recreational activity!
Everyone had a great time playing UNO and playing board games!
When we were down to the last piece at UNO, a few of you forgot to say “uno” and drew...
I was watching closely 👀👀👀.
It must have been a very productive day from day 1!!

That's all I have to tell you about Day 1 so far!

Day 2

First I got up and had breakfast!

It was a buffet in the morning and I had several more drinks in addition to the one pictured!!
Now that I think about it, I don't know how I ate all that food in the morning...

In the morning we had a seminar!
On the second day of the seminar, we worked on one problem per person to improve our skills in the programming language we are all currently learning: Python!
Everyone is very serious.

I explained the problems I was working on one by one!
The problems being solved and the way of thinking differed greatly from person to person, giving me ideas that I did not have!
I would like to continue to increase these types of opportunities in the future!

Everyone was presenting to each other and in no time it was time for lunch!!
Lunch was all-you-can-eat curry and rice!

It seemed that not everyone was that hungry, and it was hard to find anyone who wanted a second helping...
Curry rice, very tasty!

In the afternoon, we all played tennis and ping-pong as a recreational activity!
Although rain was initially forecast, the weather cleared up completely and we were able to enjoy the exercise to the fullest!!

After a lot of physical activity, dinner was a buffet!

Each item was very tasty!
I was personally impressed with the vegetable stew (bottom right in the photo) and the hamburger steak (top center left in the photo), which had a rich and deep sauce and meat, and I had several second helpings!
Since breakfast and lunch were also buffets, some people were not very hungry and did not have second helpings.

In the evening we gathered again in our room and played games together!
On the second day, in addition to UNO, we played a wargame!
Since I was expelled on the first day, it gave me the opportunity to see how you were advancing the story and deception, and to see each and every one of you vividly - your personalities!
I could feel everyone's friendship deepening as the day progressed!

Then we had to eat Jiro Ramen in our room before going to bed lol.
Professor Asaka had never had it before, so we asked him to take the first bite!
I hope we can all go together someday!

Tomita-supervised Deka-Buta Ramen 691 yen

That's all for Day 2 so far!

Day 3

On the third day, I originally planned to visit Nikko Toshogu Shrine!
But first, I would like to tell you about breakfast on the last day!

As you can see in the lower left of the photo, there was wakame rice at breakfast!
Thanks to this, I was very satisfied just eating rice!
Of course, the other side dishes were delicious as well!!

A group photo was taken before departure!

The pose is based on the “A” of Asaka.
We enjoyed our two nights there!!

To get to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, we first traveled to Nikko Station by car or train, and then took a bus to there after meeting up with the others.

We purchased a 1,600 yen worship ticket!

Nikko Toshogu Shrine enshrines Ieyasu, the first Tokugawa shogun who established the Edo shogunate, as its deities. Many of you may have visited the site on school excursions. In 1999, the shrine, together with the surrounding cultural landscape, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is a group photo!
Each one of us did the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” pose.

After the visit, we had lunch!

The restaurant is"Souvenir Restaurant Kishino"!
It is located just outside Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
I thought it would be too crowded to enter, but I was able to get in more easily than I expected.
Different people ordered different menus, but there were about 4 members who ordered Yuba Udon lol.
I was one of them and had the Yuba Udon.

Yuba Udon 1,000 yen

Other members ordered Yuba Soba and Japanese sweets!
There were two members who ordered Japanese sweets, but they had different contents.

Matcha green tea and Japanese sweets 700 yen

We then returned to Nikko Station and disbanded.

How did you feel about these three days?

There are many aspects that cannot be conveyed in this article alone, so we encourage you to visit the site yourself!

The training camp was only possible because of the long vacation.

We would like to cherish this kind of opportunity because it is rare to have such a chance to deepen friendship among lab members in our daily lives!

Thank you for reading to the end!!!
