Area of Expertise

Master's Program

Environmental Management

The objective of this major is to provide students with the following knowledge, abilities, and culture through education (SDG 4) based on energy and engineering perspectives and consisting of three fields: "production" technology (SDG 7), "consumption" behavior (SDG 12), and "politics and management" (SDG 9), and a group of common subjects that organically link these fields.

(1) Expertise and knowledge to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society in 2050 through the rapid introduction of decarbonization technologies and their effective use without destroying nature (SDG 13, 15)

(2) As a global leader, the ability to have a high level of expertise and a bird's-eye viewpoint, to tackle difficult issues with sincerity, and to voluntarily make proposals and take concrete actions to solve problems that cross national boundaries of different socio-cultural backgrounds (SDG 17)

Educational Goals and Qualities to be Acquired

In Asia and the Pacific, where greenhouse gas emissions are the largest in the world and are expected to continue to increase, climate change countermeasures, including the introduction of decarbonization technologies, transformation of consumption structures, and development of social infrastructure, are of paramount importance. In order to achieve carbon-neutrality, TUAT, which promotes education and research on the development and utilization of decarbonization technologies, and Edith Cowan University, which develops the latest sustainability studies using Australia's natural capital, will collaborate to foster the ability to identify and solve problems by integrating different perspectives and values from different countries and to develop cross-cultural adaptability. The program will cultivate the ability to identify and solve problems by integrating different national perspectives and values, as well as the ability to adapt to different cultures, and nurture human resources capable of demonstrating leadership in Asia and the Pacific.

Curriculum Policy

Master's Program

Research Course

In order to cultivate the scientific thinking, research, analysis, and evaluation skills necessary to solve problems related to the environment, information, and urban life, students belong to one of the faculty members' laboratories and complete "literature studies and exercises" and "special research" under the direct supervision of the faculty.

Courses by area

In order to develop human resources who have both broad cross-disciplinary knowledge and in-depth knowledge in specific fields related to the environment, information, and urban life, "specialized courses" will be established for each field, allowing students to earn credits in multiple fields.

Specialized courses by partner foreign universities

Students will take specialized courses in environmental science offered by partner universities in order to develop human resources who can be practically active in the field of environmental science in the international community. In addition, students will take a "Postgraduate Science Project" under the direct supervision of faculty members from partner universities to acquire specialized skills that can be used worldwide.
