{"id":1985,"date":"2025-02-13T09:48:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T00:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comm.tcu.ac.jp\/masuda-lab\/?p=1985"},"modified":"2026-06-29T21:02:52","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T12:02:52","slug":"a-study-on-improving-the-classification-accuracy-of-western-style-pastry-images-using-deep-neural-networksfy-2024-graduation-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comm.tcu.ac.jp\/masuda-lab\/en\/archives\/1985","title":{"rendered":"A Study on Improving the Classification Accuracy of Western-Style Pastry Images Using Deep Neural Networks(FY 2024 Graduation Research)\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This study focused on image classification using deep learning and investigated methods for improving classification accuracy.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Image classification is a critical technology in various application fields, such as automated checkout systems, and there is a growing need to improve its accuracy.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this study, we focused specifically on images of Western-style confectionery. We trained the model using 14 food classes, including cupcakes and macarons, after adding new image data, and evaluated the classification accuracy using the macro-average, a metric for multi-class classification tasks.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results showed that accuracy improved with each addition of cupcake and macaron images,&nbsp;indicating&nbsp;that training the model with newly added image data is effective for improving classification accuracy.
