On October 10, 2025, Professor Satoshi Masuda of our laboratory participated as a panelist in the panel discussion “The Future of Software Quality Led by International Standards<\/a>” at the 20th Anniversary JSTQB Conference in 2025 Autumn, which was held online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel discussion focused on international standards for software testing, including ISO\/IEC 29119 and ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board). The panelists discussed the changing role of international standards, the status of their adoption in different countries, and the future of quality assurance premised on SaaS (Software as a Service) and cloud-based development. Professor Masuda explained the structure of standardization activities in ISO\/IEC JTC1 SC7<\/a> WG26 and how international standards related to software testing are developed. ISO\/IEC JTC1 SC7 WG26 is a working group responsible for discussing international standards on software testing<\/a>. It belongs to SC7, the subcommittee on software and systems engineering under JTC1, the joint technical committee of ISO and IEC for information technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Masuda is a faculty member in the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Informatics, Tokyo City University, specializing in software engineering and software testing. After gaining experience in software development, quality consulting, and research and development at his IT industry experiences, he now engages in research and education aimed at developing high-quality software efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Masuda’s participation in this panel discussion provided an opportunity to introduce the relationship between international discussions on software quality and our laboratory’s research field. Our laboratory will continue to contribute to improving the quality of information systems used in society through research in software engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
