In April 2022, third-year undergraduate students were assigned to the Masuda Laboratory at Tokyo City University as laboratory’s establishment members.
The Masuda Laboratory primarily focuses on software engineering, but encompasses a wide range of research themes. During my cohort, we launched four core research groups: “speech processing,” “posture analysis,” “autonomous driving,” and “object detection.” These groups continue to serve as the foundation of the laboratory and have fostered a challenging and supportive research environment for subsequent students.
At the inception of the laboratory, with few precedents or guidelines to follow, we students took the initiative in selecting research topics and formulating activity policies. We actively promoted new initiatives and facilitated open communication and information sharing among members, striving to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere. As a result, we succeeded in creating an engaging learning environment where individuals could pursue their research proactively while mutually fostering each other’s growth.
